THID embraces and promotes creative innovations and scientific research, cross-border resource management, innovation driven by entrepreneurship, and the national strategy of cultural rejuvenation.

THID’s flagship project is the Yuanmingyuan—China’s most famous cultural heritage landscape that has been almost completely razed in the last 250 years. Research was conducted in line with (international and domestic) standards for cultural heritage protection and interpretation and has recovered the ‘lost’ garden digitally. A comprehensive digital-aided recovery system for cultural heritage in danger of disappearing was established using virtual reality, augmented reality, mobile Internet, and multi-sensory interaction (between visual, auditory and haptic domains). This includes for example, the creation of a high-precision heritage site digital library and the development of high-tech cultural products that provide an emotional experience through digital stimuli. It also serves to improve the quality of cultural and tourism consumption, at the same time promoting its cultural importance and the innovative concept to historical cities all around the world.
